Does Wellbutrin show up as the same class as Xanax on a blood test? Could xanax be mistaken for wellbutrin on a blood test?

Does anyone take Xanax and wellbutrin along with citralopam? Just wondering if anyone takes all 3 of these meds?? And if so how do you feel with them all?? My Dr seems to think that the wellbutrin will help with my OCD and weight gain. Thoughts??

Aldebaran replied: "Wellbutrin and Xaxax are sometimes prescribed together by doctors, but before taking both together you should talk to your doctor about what the correct doses are to take, because they probably interact slightly. Yes, it's safe to smoke weed with wellbutrin, because weed doesn't interact with medicine for the most part (for some people who are more sensitive to weed, it might have odd effects, but you'll have to try it to find out)."

Is there any drug interaction between Xanax and Wellbutrin and Lexapro? I want to get some xanax to help me relax

Joseph H replied: "They are complimentary depending upon your need and the dosage of the other medications, which also serve to manage depression of which, anxiety is often a component. Xanax is one of five (Ativan, Valium, Klonopin, Restoril) benzodiazipines prescribed as adjunctive treatment by psychiatrists. It is a controlled substance and so its use can only be recommended for long or short term benefit as part of a medication cocktail by a psychiatrist."

I hear Xanax is making the rounds at schools but keep in mind that it can also act as a muscle relaxant. That means it could have some affect on sexual functioning as well as the muscles that help you retain urine and tell you when you need to evacuate. Get it? Does taking Wellbutrin, Xanax and Ambien hurt you? I have been on Wellbutrin for over a year and Xanax. I haven't been able to go to sleep since. Now the doctor has me on Ambien to help me sleep and I still lay there for an hour or two after taking that. Does anyone know if the Wellbutrin is why I can't sleep? I started taking this when my son was deployed in Iraq for the second of two 2 year tours. I also lost my dad during his first tour. My Dad has been dead for about 3 years and my son has been home for over a year. Do I really even need this anymore? If I don't, how do I get off the drugs?

cattbarf replied: "My sympathies on your loss of your Dad. I hope you have pleasant memories of him. First, you should discuss this with your Doctor. Some anti-depressants dosage changes need to be handled slowly. How are you functioning with all that? Staying up an hour or two is not the end of the world. You may want to see another doctor if the current one is not giving you the answers you want (at worst, doctor 2 will confirm what doctor 1 says)."

Kat replied: "Wellbutrin is an anti-depressant and maybe you just need another one if it is bothering you there are several good ones.You need to ask your Dr. Xanax is very, very addicting I have been there and done that. It is prescribed mostly for anxiety, but the more you take the more you will think you need. Ambien is for sleep, however I did the same thing just laid there it didn't help me. If you want to go off all these things talk to your Dr. and tell him. Depending on how many Xanax you take in a day he may have to wean you off those. I'm not sure on Wellbutrin since it isn't a narcotic like Xanax. I would ask him for something else to help you sleep there are many different sleep aids. Stress and anxiety with all you have been through may be why you can't sleep. I have been through all your symtons. Now I take Effexor which is a good anti-depressant for me. I take a low dose of Xanax if I need it, I used to be on 6mg a day I had such a tolerance to it. And at night I take a Restoril (sleeping pill) if I need it. Please talk to your Dr. he can switch you off the other stuff. And I also see a Counselor now and it has helped tremendously. You might consider that with all this heartache you are having. I hope you feel better soon."

xanax,wellbutrin, paxil...together? I am on Wellbutrin (for about 1 1/2 mos. now) to counteract any side effects with any other anit-depressant I would take. I would just take that, but it hightens my anxiety. Now, i just started Paxil (1week ago) for an all-of-the-time solution and Xanax (also started 1 week ago) for when I need it. My question is since I have been taking the xanax and paxil (along with the wellbutrin) everyday, I wonder if I will notice when the paxil kicks in? Are there any concerns with this trio?

char g replied: "You shouldn't have any problems with this regimen of drugs. I am Bipolar and i take Lexipro, Xanax and Seroquel all together and it has helped me to be able to function normally. You probably won't even notice when the paxil kicks in. I do have one concern though I am not a doctor but the wellbutrin concerns me because it has so many side effects but if you have been on in for a month and a half and haven't noticed any problems i wouldn't worry about it. If you have any side effects from the trio there are drugs out there such as cogentin that will minimize the side effects of the trio."

Jennifer L replied: "Wellbutrin is in a different class of meds than Paxil. Wellbutrin deals with dopamine (I believe) and it's good for people who wish to stop smoking etc. Paxil deals with the seratonin. It's a SSRI, selective seratonin reuptake inhibitor. I know that those two together shouldn't be a problem. I am not 100% sure on Xanax but I think it should be fine if the same DR prescribed it. It usually takes two weeks before you notice changes."

Xanax however is a highly addictive medication so i would try just to use this if feeling extremely anxious not just to rely on it daily give the other meds a chance to work first."

Welbutrin feels more like an "upper" it is usually not prescribed for anxiey, although I too took it for anxiety, since Lexapro didn't seem to work, but I felt like I just drank 4 cups of coffee when the Welbutrin kicked in. I have not mixed those three together, but have mixed Welbutrin, Xanax and Lexapro with no problems, and under the supervision of my primary care."

Sleeping pills mixing trazadone, ambien, xanax and unisom almost everynight I am also on Wellbutrin and Zoloft? I haven't had a good night's sleep that isn't drug induced in a really long time. I have MDD and PTSD. Is it bad to mix all those pills to make me fall asleep? How can I avoid feeling "hungover" the next day? How can I get to sleep without drugs?

breezymourn replied: "You should not mix so many medications without a drs approval. Sounds like a deadly combination. Talk to your dr. or pyschiatrist and see what they can suggest to help you sleep."

Leena replied: "You need to talk to you doctor. Too much Wellbutrin can cause mania, which will keep you up at night. Hopefully, your doctor isn't one of those doctor's that will just keep adding more medication to take care of the side effects of the other medications that you're on. If that's the case, maybe a new doctor would be good? Taking all of those drugs isn't good. Either you'll OD or your damaging your liver."

abnoos replied: "Dear Annie, Ur MDD causes insomnia, Zoloft is prescribed for both PTSD and MDD, and Trazodone is the best to help u with ur insomnia, but If u keep mixing too many of them, they won't function. U'll be all day sleepy and useless. There r other better ways for ur insomnia, also I dunno ur dosage, but usually we start with1/4 or1/2 every night. u should've been told that PTSD can get much much better with group therapy and psychoanalyze. this will help u to reduce the amount of meds u take. Stay in touch with ur Dr and don't ever use more than prescribed."

Have any of you ever taken Wellbutrin or Xanax during pregnancy at all? I am on Wellbutrin and Xanax. I have extreme panic attacks if I do not take my Xanax. I have talked to my doctor and he said to take it easy on the Xanax as much as I can. I have completely STOPPED the Wellbutrin because I know it can cause birth defects.Xanax isn't a class C either, but God knows stress let alone an anxiety attack would not be good while TTC. I am TTC and am not actually pregnant right now. My husband and I had sex on all my fertile days this week though and I tried every trick in the book to help those little swimmers! So my question is have any of you taken either of these at all during pregnancy and had a healthy baby? I'm not looking forward to the Wellbutrin withdrawal, but I will do it if I have to so i can have a healthy baby! I also hope that these meds will not hinder my chances of conception. Help! I'm usually okay once i'm actually pregnant too, i'm just worried about taking it during conception and all until I get my BFP.. ? Oh don't worry, i stopped the Wellbutrin yesterday. That would be possibly right before or after conception that i stopped taking it so that aspect of it should be ok.

She actually did just fine... her hormones from being preggo balanced her out. She actually is still doing better afterwards. It kinda shocked her body I think? Her mes have lessoned and she barley ever has attacks now."

Piaz replied: "Talk to your doctor, but maybe you should go through withdrawal before you get pregnant? I wouldn't take it during the first few weeks after BFP, too, to get past most of the organ formation. If you are worried about birth defects - my son's heart defects occurred probably right around the same time I learned I was pregnant - right when his heart formed. I was on a small dose of generic Prozac for generalized anxiety. I was told by several doctors that it probably, mostly likely was not the Prozac, but I weaned off during the end of that pregnancy anyway. We moved and I consulted a different speciallist preconceptually, and he told me today that he firmly believes that all SSRIs, etc, can definitely cause cardic defects, and that I should stay off for now. That is no problem, because I have stayed off, even through my son's death, and the agonizing months since then, when there were times I was begging my husband to "go get me medication" for the anxiety and depression and sadness. I started going to yoga classes, which helped me control my anxiety a lot!"

Hotmama replied: "My doctor told me that wellbutrin can make it very hard to conceive. If you have quit taking it already then you are on the right path. Just make sure that you wing yourself off. Doctors say that you can not just quit cold turkey because that will make your anxiety even worse then before you started taking it. Does your doctor know that you are trying to quit the meds. I didnt listen to my doctor and just quit taking it altogether. Well BIG MISTAKE! It was awful! I was so mean that I didnt even want to be around myself much less anyone else. Good luck!"
